MAIDSTONE GATEWAY KIOSKS
Maidstone B.C. has undergone some dramatic changes
since installing their first kiosk in their old Council Offices on the
Tonbridge Road Site. The first kiosk was installed to run alongside the cash
office giving customers time to adjust to new ways of working with a staged
approach to removing their cash office.
Moving into temporary accommodation whilst the new
Maidstone Gateway was under construction gave Maidstone 2 kiosks and removed
the facility of the Cash office for the public, within 6 months the Gateway on
King Street was ready and on the 5th January 2009 Maidstone Borough
Council opened it’s full service within Maidstone Gateway.
Maidstone Gateway has now been open a year with 3
RPkiosk’s up and running for both the public and staff to use for cash and
debit card transactions. .
The kiosks have
helped to speed up the council’s cash collection services and streamlined the
way the authority deals with all kinds of council services from Parking Fines
to School Permits, making the taking of cash and credit and debit card payments
much safer, cheaper and easier for all concerned.
Prior to the installation of the RPKiosk’s cash
collection was a time consuming and expensive way of getting the public to pay
their bills. With the RPKiosk’s being
fully operational together with practiced and efficient procedures in place
this has made the process far more effective for customers and staff whilst
still retaining their involvement in the cashiering process.
Laura French Gateway Team Manager commented “ This has
made a great improvement to the efficiency of collecting council bills from the
public and also enabled my staff to devote time to customer enquiries”.
